Middle / Secondary Programs

Grades 8 - 9
JDFDL provides the opportunity for advanced placement or acceleration for grade 8 and 9 students in the core subjects, math, english, science and social studies. Grade 8 and 9 students must be approved by their school counsellor and by WestShore Centre.

Grade 8 & 9 Foundations Program
Building a solid literacy foundation
The purpose of the Foundations Program is to build a solid academic foundation for students to transfer into upper level courses (grade 10-12). Individual student strengths will be capitalized upon and weaknesses identified and supported. The program takes a three-tiered approach to student success: direct teacher instruction, distance learning (online at home) and tutorials (monitored independent work). An emphasis will be placed on numeracy and literacy skills due to their importance across the curriculum at all levels.

Direct instruction and tutorials with access to the instructor are offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Grades 10 - 12
Students have the ability to take additional courses while still attending their regular high school classes or, students can complete their high school graduation. JDFDL provides an option for students wanting to learn at a distance and are looking for a more flexible and independent learning environment.
